Welcome to Mr. Lopez's ELL Class!
Hello students and parents,
This is my 3rd year of teaching in Chicago Public Schools but I have been a teacher of English and Spanish Language Arts in Spain for 17 years. I am a graduate of Granada University, where I received my teaching certification. I also have a degree on Italian Language and Education. My next step is to read my Doctoral Thesis, but this will have to wait, since I am here in Chicago as part of an exchange program between the Spanish Ministry of Education and Chicago Public Schools. Initially, this program expands up to 3 years, which I expect to spend as part of this amazing Lorca community.
As a curiosity, I was born and raised in Granada, the same place where Federico Garcia Lorca was born.
I am truly looking forward to a phenomenal school year and expect to work closely with all of you. I will be providing all the support that you will need to have a successful school year as a Lorca Orca!
PARENT MEETINGS and PARTICIPATION
Parents are always welcome to see what is going on in my classroom and your support as a parent/guardian in an integral part of your child’s success. Please be in touch with your questions, concerns or thoughts. I can always be reached through email at firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a panoramic view of the Alhambra, the most important monument in Granada, my hometown. One on the white houses you can see on the photo used to be the house where I lived when I was a kid.
At the rear you can see Sierra Nevada where the highest peak of the Iberian Peninsula is and where there is a very popular ski resort.
***Your child should be reading a minimum of 60+ minutes per night**
